Choose the hepatitis A course deliberately
Ask which product is being prescribed and whether another dose will be needed. Live and inactivated hepatitis A vaccines use different courses. Keep the brand label and the planned follow-up date; a generic “hepatitis A” entry alone can make later record checks difficult.
A birthday is a useful review point
Bring all records from the first year, including government-centre doses and any vaccinations received while travelling. Check whether earlier measles-containing, polio, pneumococcal or flu doses still need follow-up. Do not repeat an already documented vaccine merely because the baby has reached twelve months.
Additional vaccines are not a default package
Japanese encephalitis, meningococcal and cholera recommendations depend on location, risk, travel and product eligibility. They should not be presented as compulsory for every one-year-old. Ask for the reason, course length and total cost of any proposed additional vaccine.
